The Deep Time Walk App made an appearance earlier this week at the Royal Albert Hall when Stephan Harding, our Science Director, was invited by Yann Tiersen to give a 30 minute talk about deep ecology, to open his sell-out music concert in London.

Stephan Harding, our Science Director, was recently filmed for a major new documentary about the economist David Fleming. Two initial short videos (which have been viewed over 2 million time on social media) have been released for this, including one on the Deep Time Walk.

Four weeks ago today we launched our second crowdfunding campaign and over the weekend we reached our £20,000 target! A groundbreaking walking audio book project that brings to life the Earth’s 4.6 billion year story has launched a Heritage Lottery Fund-backed £20,000 crowdfunding appeal – to increase its impact in raising environmental awareness, help train future ecologists and encourage people to look after the planet.

As a new media artist involved in eco-art practices, teaching audiovisual technology at university is not just about showing techniques for the creation of entertaining content for the mass media or artworks for galleries. It is about dealing in a creative way with a shift of worldview, the tsunami provoked by the general collapse of our civilization of consumerism and iconic abstractions crashing against the wall of our superficiality.

The Deep Time Walk team are launching a crowdfunding campaign on Earth Day (Friday 22 April) to complete the development of the Deep Time Walk App. The first 50 people to pledge support will get access to an early release.

For the past six months, Peter Oswald and Stephan Harding have been writing, researching, refining and collaborating together on the creation of the script for the Deep Time Walk experience. This script was recorded on April 11th 2016 at Cast Iron Studios in London with the actors Chipo Chung and Paul Hilton.
