Description

Recommended for the Ted Hughes poetry award in 2017 and the basis of the dramatised audio narrative used in the Deep Time Walk Mobile Guide. The Script – ‘The Fool and the Scientist’ – is a collaboration between award-winning playwright Peter Oswald and scientist Dr. Stephan Harding, bringing together the disciplines of science and humanities in a unique way. By using the characters of a Fool and a Scientist in conversation across Earth’s geological timeline, it provides a poetic way to see Earth history based on the latest scientific evidence. Includes a specially commissioned glossary of over 120 terms to look up technical terms such as taxonomy and geological processes. A text based timeline, which highlights the key events that happened at each 100 Million Year period across the 4.6bn year history of Earth is included at the back for reference along with a full index.
